NIGERIA APPOINTMENT NEW COACH


The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation met at the NFF Secretariat, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja on Friday, 26th February, 2010 to discuss important issues concerning Nigeria football and resolved as follows:
The Committee unanimously approved the appointment of Mr. Lars Lagerback, former Head Coach of Sweden, as the new Technical Adviser of the national football team, Super Eagles. Mr. Lagerback will sign a five–month contract during which he will lead Nigeria’s fourth appearance at the FIFA World Cup finals, in South Africa this summer. Details of other issues such as his Assistants will be announced later.
Committee commended the work done by the panel of interviewers and also thanked the Presidential Task Force for agreeing to pay the bills of the new Eagles’ technical team.
The Executive Committee slammed an indefinite suspension on Premier League Club, Sharks FC of Port Harcourt effective from Monday, 1st March, 2010 for non –compliance with the statutory provisions guiding association football.
The Committee expressed gratitude to world football –governing body, FIFA for endorsing the amendments to the NFF Statutes.
