Tiger Woods has issued a public statement on Friday in which he apologized for the ‘irresponsible’ and ’selfish’ behavior that he had indulged in. The latest news in the Tiger Woods scandal involves the closely controlled press conference that was held on Friday, in which the disgraced golfer made his first public appearance since the reports linking him with as many as 19 women surfaced.
In the much anticipated press conference, Tiger Woods accepted to have been involved in the sex scandal and having multiple extramarital affairs and repeatedly cheating his wife, former Swedish model Elin Nordegren. However, Tiger Woods also admitted that his actual apology to his wife could not be furnished only through words but would require actions to substantiate that he is actually sorry for what he did. At the same time, the World No.1 golfer asked the media to respect the privacy of his family, reiterating that it was him who had committed the mistakes and not his family.
It does not come as a surprise that the apology issued by Tiger Woods has received widespread attention. There has been extensive division of views about the public statement that has been released by the champion golfer. Former golfer and analyst Frank Nobilo has revealed that he was hardly impressed with the apology issued by Tiger Woods. According to the former professional golfer, the troubled golfer should have come up with the apology long back when the controversial reports had started surfacing. However, Tim Finchem, the PGA Tour commissioner had earlier revealed that he considers the apology to be ‘heartfelt’ and also emphasized that it means that Tiger Woods is attempting to get his life back on track after the sex scandal.
